About Wrexham Fencing Club
Location
Wrexham Fencing Club meet on Friday Evenings (during the academic year, roughly September to June) at the Clywedog Leisure and Activity Centre, Clywedog School, Ruthin Road, Wrexham LL13 7UB.
Junior Club
Wrexham Fencing Club welcomes girls and boys between 8 and 13 years of age to join the Junior Club both as experienced fencers and beginners. The Junior club focuses on teaching fencing and training using both non electric (steam) and electric equipment to teach girls and boys the skills, discipline and rules of fencing and to prepare, those who wish, to enter competitions. Competitive fencing is not however a requirement of the Junior Club.
The Junior club meets on Friday Evenings between 6:00pm and 7:30pm
Senior Club
Wrexham Fencing Club welcomes people to join the Senior Club as a beginner, or experienced fencer, and will guild the new member through training and integration into the club, so as to enjoy the full experience of fencing.
The Senior club meets on Friday Evenings between 7:30pm and 9:00pm
Beginners Course – 6 weeks
The beginner's course is targeted at fencers who have no previous experience of the sport.
The objectives of the course are to teach the fundamentals of fencing; attack, defence, safety and to introduce fencers to competitive fencing.
All fencing equipment will be provided, all you need to bring are gym shoes or trainers (no black soles please) and wear loose clothing with strong trousers (no shorts) and a drink. Fees for the course are £30.00.
Visitors
Visitors are more than welcome at th club so if you are in the area and fancy an evening's fencing please just feel free to turn up and join in. Visitors are expected to provide their own equipment but in exceptional circumstances, such as a visitor from overseas, equipment can be loaned for the evening.
Strength and Conditioning Training
Between 6:15pm and 7:15pm the club runs a strength and conditioning session for the senior fencers. The session is hard work but great fun, what's more the fencers that regularly attend gain a huge amount from it.
Fees
Fees are payable either yearly in advance or by 12 monthly instalments via standing order and are as follows:
