NWJS - Chester 2017 Results

Wrexham Fencing Club sent a contingent of 4 fencers to Chester on Saturday 24th June to compete in the Chester round of the North West Junior Series.  It was great to see Wrexham junior fencers developing their competition skills. Amazingly the club managed to come away 3 medal from the 4 fencers and could have had 4 if two of our fencers had not faced each other to go through to the quarter Final.

After the Poule stages Lilly was positioned in last place however following this disapointing start she really came alive for the DE's. After some impressive fencing she produced a great semi final result. In the final she continued this perormance with the scores never being more than a point different. At the break it was 8-7 to Lilly but Jolene showed her greater experience coming back to win 10-8, Lilly collecting a well-deserved Silver. Well done Lilly, you are improving well.

Farris came to the competition with a plan. To come forward really fast. On the whole this was effective but Farris is now going to work on moving back down the piste without leaving his opponent an easy target. Well Done Farris, a bronze medal this time, keep up the good work.

Boys U13 Foil:

The under 13 Boys foil was hotly contested with a larger field than the other weapons. Wrexham had 2 fencers in this group, both quite new to the sport.

Unfortunately, as is often the way, on completion of the poules Ibrahim and Osian were on the same side of the DE's. As it turned out they met in the last Quater-finals. This time Ibrahim managed to beat Osian and progress to the Semi-finals. Ibrahim ended the competition in joint 3rd with Osian in 7th.

A good show guys. Keep it up and hopefully more metalwork next time.
